Spring is yet another time when people's minds turn to 'detoxing'.   But what should we really be doing at this time to help our bodies transition the seasons?   First of all the word detox is misleading.  The body is more than capable of ridding itself of waste material given the correct support, and that is what I want to talk about in this blog.

When our bodies change with the seasons, a transition takes place.  Our cells begin to function differently adapting to the change in the daylight hours and warmer temperatures (hopefully) and our metabolism is affected.  This is seen more obviously in the animal kingdom when the coats of animals change in texture and density. We don't have such obvious physical signs but a change is happening within our organs and the body needs support to increase its metabolism-the rate at which the cells assimilate nutrients and eliminates waste/toxins.

Extreme remedies and diets are often promulgated by the popular media at this time,  but anything that puts your body under extra pressure is potentially dangerous.  The intelligent way to address this process is to support  - not over stimulate - the organs of elimination so that they can do the job for which they are designed. By giving these vital organs the correct tools to help them to work under pressure, our elimination processes will work more efficiently ensuring healthy functioning cells critical for our physical and emotional wellbeing.

Oligotherapy provides that necessary tool; the unique complex of ionised trace elements, aptly called Drainoligo, is immediately absorbed directly under the tongue into the bloodstream, bypassing an overworked digestive system. The complex has been designed to support the organs of elimination as well as the body's metabolism to facilitate the important transition from winter to spring.   The synergy-matched trace elements in the complex  - Zinc, Sulphur, Iodine, Magnesium, Cobalt, Lithium Potassium and Manganese - supports the liver, pancreas, kidneys as well as the endocrine system to provide a balanced, but extremely effective method of prompting a sluggish system into working more efficiently.

If you think that you are already overloaded by toxins, from poor diet, pollution, alcohol, an unbalanced lifestyle, etc, then the last thing you need to do is follow an intense regime which is going to purge everything from your system.  When we use products that over stimulate the functioning of the digestive system and kidneys then those organs are put under extra pressure. The combination of trying to do their job as well as being bombarded with an extra workload from an intense detox regime means that not all toxins are removed; they may be released from the cells into the bloodstream but they do not make their way out of the body.  Instead, they find another home in the body's tissues in which to languish and cause blockages. Another disadvantage of over stimulating the elimination process is that valuable nutrients, particularly crucial minerals like Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, Zinc are lost.

Finally, when you have enjoyed the last piece of chocolate from your Easter Eggs, and your thoughts are turning to 'detox' remember the goal is not to 'beat your body up' by using products that cause extreme responses in the organs of elimination. The body is a delicate and intricate synergy of multiple actions with its own intelligence.  We should just give that intelligence a chance to work.

Best wishes
